چکیده

Pollination and fertilization are critical factors in horticultural cultivation to increase seed production. In this study, we measured the visiting activity pollination of three species stingless bees, i.e., Tetragonula laeviceps, Lepidotrigona terminata, Heterotrigona itama mustard (Brassica rapa). Visiting bees were observed plants caged by an insect screen. The observations done visually per hour, starting from 07:00 until 16:00, using focal sampling method. activities flower handling time, foraging rate, total visit plant. We also pollen load each bee species. Results showed highest rate occurred H. (28.38 flowers/5 minutes), followed T. laeviceps (27.88 L. terminata (27.85 respectively. longest time was found (40.15 seconds), (35.25 (34.84 seconds). Whereas, (40.10 (37.47 (36.76 minutes). has a (36,650 grains), (26,940 (9,700 27-40% number pods plant, 32-72% seeds pod, 32-54% weight 18-36% germination mustard.

Recruitment communication in stingless bees (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini)

The stingless bees (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini) have evolved sophisticated communication systems that allow foragers to recruit nestmates to good resources. Over the past 50 years, a growing body of research has shown that foragers can communicate three-dimensional resource location, uncovered several potential communication mechanisms, and demonstrated new information transfer mechanisms....

Syntenic gene analysis between Brassica rapa and other Brassicaceae species

Chromosomal synteny analysis is important in genome comparison to reveal genomic evolution of related species. Shared synteny describes genomic fragments from different species that originated from an identical ancestor. Syntenic genes are orthologs located in these syntenic fragments, so they often share similar functions. Syntenic gene analysis is very important in Brassicaceae species to sha...

Hygienic behavior in the stingless bees Melipona beecheii and Scaptotrigona pectoralis (Hymenoptera: Meliponini).

Hygienic behavior, a trait that may confer resistance to brood diseases in the honey bee Apis mellifera, was studied in two species of stingless bees in Mexico. Eight colonies each of Melipona beecheii and Scaptotrigona pectoralis were tested for hygienic behavior, the removal of dead or diseased brood, by freeze killing a comb of sealed cells containing pupae. Both species detected and removed...

Stingless bees ( Hymenoptera , Meliponini ) feeding on stinkhorn spores ( Fungi , Phallales ) : robbery or dispersal ? 1

Records about stingless bee-fungi interaction are very rare. In Brazilian Amazonia, workers of Trigona crassipes (Fabricius, 1793) and Trigona fulviventris Guerin, 1835 visiting two stinkhorn species, Diclyophora sp. and Phallus sp., respectively, were observed. The workers licked the fungi gleba, a mucilaginous mass of spores covering the pi leum. Neither gleba residue nor spores were found on...
